Decorate for the Holidays
December 13th, 2009 by TirNua Audrey Leave a comment Share on Facebook Custom Floor Tiles - you can now create your very own Custom Floor Tiles!
In the shopping panel you will find a new tab labeled ‘Custom Content’.

Larry experimenting with the new Custom Floor Tiles
To create custom floor tiles simply load your own texture files by clicking the ‘Load File’ button, give it a unique name, and click the ‘Upload’ button. In the Purchase Dialog you can choose how many stacks of floor tiles (30 tiles to a stack) you would like to order. You can order more at any time from the ‘My Creations’ section. In a upcoming future release, you will be have the ability to use your recycling materials to create your floor tiles from much like you can now with custom clothing.
Unlike regular floor tiles, Custom Floor Tiles give you the ability to place them in different rotations. When first dragging the floor tiles stack on to the lot to select those tiles as the current tiles, hit the space bar to choose the rotation you want them to be placed in. All tiles placed after that will placed with that rotation. To change rotation re-drag the stack onto the lot and change the rotation with the space bar.
If you would like to sell your cool Custom Floor Tiles you can drag them onto your lot as an object by holding the CTRL and ALT keys down while you drag it on. You will then be able to set them for sale when in manage mode.
Decorate your Home for the Holidays with these Holiday Items
You will find all of these items along with Santa outfits for both guys and gals in the Holiday Store. And, we have added a Lucia wreath to go with the Lucia outfit introduced last week. The wreath is unisex! Many of these items are available in the Gift Store as well. Get into the Holiday Spirit and send your Tirnuan friends some gifts this season!

We have started a Holiday Collection where we will put seasonal items up for sale during various holidays and seasons. Going forward objects that are not in season will not be available from Tirnua all year long. However, you will still most likely be able to find the items for sale from the Player Stores.
RARE DVD Sewing Machine to use with Scanner - manufacture this rare Sewing Machine Pro by printing (printer and scanner require a VIP Badge) the normal sewing machine and selecting ‘Rare’.
This new DVD Sewing Machine will allow you to manufacture multiple custom clothing items in a row! With the custom clothing patterns on DVDs you will now be able to trade and gift the DVDs, giving you the ability to sew other peoples’ custom clothing patterns. You can also allow others to use your sewing machine with their own DVDs and you can charge a fee if you like. To charge a fee select “Set Fee” from the sewing machines ‘Action’ Menu.

Once you have your new Sewing Machine Pro, here’s how to use it:
- Hook the sewing machine up to a DVD Player and to a battery (note: battery hooks up on the left and the DVD player on the right)
- Create some custom clothing in the Dress Me ‘Create’ panel and purchase at least one copy (you can use custom content already purchased too)
- Drag that copy of custom clothing into a scanner, scan the item and create a DVD
- Load that DVD into the DVD player connected to the Sewing Machine Pro
- Sew to your heart’s content.

Improved Editing UI in the Home Viewer - we are working on making editing easier in order to help out our newbies in the game.
- New play, edit and manage radio buttons - should be easy to readily see what mode you are in and toggle between them
- Faster Editing - you can now edit the lot you own without going into edit mode. When you drag an object, it will start to move after a second. The game will go back into play mode automatically.
- New 4-way arrow drag-pan replaces the pan icons at the top - while in the Home Viewer the mouse drag will now pan just like in the Map View.
- Feedback added to tell the user whether he is clicking on a busy tile.
Improved female - we believe we have corrected the issues introduced with our new female model last week. Your custom content clothing should look fabulous on you now! Thank you for all the feedback and please feel free to point out any more anomalies that you notice.
Other Stuff
- The Shopping and Gifts tabs have been consolidated under one tab - the Shopping tab. It is our goal to simplify the UI and this is another step toward that goal.
- Display “Online Now” in the Shopping Panel’s Select Gift Recipient dialog
- Locks now reward Levels in Green Thumbs and in Energy Moguls
- There is a new small battery and battery harness. Note: the battery is given to new players and the new battery harness only loads the new AA battery.
Don’t forget to check out the VIP Store for the hot deals of the week!
Happy Decorating and Holiday Cheers,
Audrey and The Tirnua Team

At least we got that update! We have all waited for this update in times! But it’s a good update! A really good one! Really fun with floor tiles and stuff!
AND the Lucia wreath! Now we can have a really good Lucia time! Happy Lucia everyone! But unlucky you didn’t add tiny lights, we cud hold in our hands :p
Happy Lucia! And Knisch
December 13th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
I’m amazed that you are working during the weekends all the time!
Love the update!
Thank you so much for the Lucia crown - will come in handy today!
On the right day and everything!
Christmas clothing too of course!
The interface changes are brilliant. I really like that we can see exactly which tree (etc) we’re clicking on, no more watering the wrong one if they are standing close to each other. And the toolbar is once again stuck to the rest of the buttons so it doesn’t get hidden whenever I zoom out.
The meshes are good! A few small kinks to work out there still, the female tank top/t-shirt still have a “broader” belt in front which could be fiddled with in the future (if there are enough nodes to make it smoother there ofc), and the pants warp a little bit which you see if you slap on a checkered picture. Otherwise I like them! The legs on the long spandex pants are simply amazing, I tried with fishnet stockings and the grid was just perfect.

Ooh, I’m stoked to see the updated female.
Maaan, let’s just call this past week the Dark Ages for the women! LOL
No offense, lovely Devs… It just just quite… Uh, Flabbergasting?
I LOVE the new sewing machine - it’ll go great in Raisin’s Santa’s Workshop.

I adore that it can now be easier to manufacture clothes, especially the kinds that don’t belong to you - YET, not without the clothier’s consent, since… well, they’ve gotta supply the disk, after all!
Anyway, the new sewing machine is pretty, and I can’t wait to see it in-game! :O
As always, LOVE LOVE LOVE the CC floors!
:)

I might even open up my own CC store with them, since I’m not adept at making clothes, but flooring seems to be pretty interesting.
Yet knowing me, I’ll come up with crazy patterns that no one wants to buy. lmao!
That Holiday Collection seems rather interesting! And I’m glad you’re finally sort of “limited edition-ing” the previous holiday rares! Makes it feel like more of a benefit to the hard-working store owners, as well as giving us older players an unfair advantage in the fashion department.
Which I love, as usual!
Also glad to hear you’re working on the Editing UI and the Shopping Tab! Not going to lie, all of those tabs in one place tend to be overwhelming… And I believe that, without a proper TSO/Sims1/Sims2/Sims3 background, the average user will have no flipping clue how the hell to edit their lots.
As always, thanks for this Devs!!
That is, the kind of glasses you wear over your eyes, not the kind you drink shots from! lmfao
Can’t wait to see what the remaining weeks before the holidays bring us.
P.S.: I’d LOVE to see “2010″ glasses for New Years.
Just a little suggestion; not entirely sure if glasses are easy to do, but I’d LOVE to see them added… I’m quite an accessory whore.
Anyway, where was I?
Ah, I LOVE the AA battery idea for the newbies! Totally hilariously cute, PLUS helps them figure out how the hell we make our money.
Okay, I’m done now! I’ll let others post. xD

BTW…
Those Map Icons (’Opening a Lot,’ ‘Dip Kissing,’ ‘Boiler Running!’) are having seizures on my world map! :O
LMFAO, I love it!! Totally scared me for a second there though… ._. Thought I was hallucinating!
December 13th, 2009 at 10:08 pm
Woot that was one of my ideas, giving the newbies a teeny tiny battery.
Actually I spoke too soon again, the toolbar still gets hidden if I zoom out.
December 13th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
I would like the option “Abort printing” to be disabled for anyone who hasn’t started the printing on that particular item. Since the sewing machine takes about 50k energy to print.
December 13th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
I don’t know about anyone else…but I lost the directional buttons after this last update. Don’t know how to navigate without them! Is it just me or has this happened to others too. I need them back. I have the “rotate” buttons but need the up, down and side to side buttons.
December 13th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
I lost mine too Malachi, the only way I have found to move to any area of the screen is to click somewhere toward the direction I want to go, then click my persona picture in visitor window to view where I moved to. Hoping the directional buttons get fixed soon but thought I would offer this as a way to get around until they are.
December 13th, 2009 at 11:21 pm
Click and drag like you were on a Google map, Malachi. I found myself always trying to do that anyway, so a nice change for me.
Good job on the UI overall.
I would like to know if y’all are finished modifying body shapes. The meshes are not perfect, but I can live with that as long as they don’t change again somewhere down the line.
December 13th, 2009 at 11:30 pm
Thanks, CherryBomb…..doh!
December 14th, 2009 at 12:01 am
I think they’ve taken away the buttons on purpose, since they have added a text “Use the Ctrl key with left mouse button to pan the view”, on the Edit Mode button.
I hope people see that though - since the Edit Mode button is only visible if you’re on your own lot - they might get confused.
I didn’t even notice it since I’ve always used Ctrl-drag to pan around anyway, but it was pointed out by another player.
But I can see how people used to the buttons will get confuzzled.
December 14th, 2009 at 1:17 am
BRING BACK THE DIRECTIONAL ARROW BUTTONS PLEASE. USING THE CLICK AND DRAG TO ME IS A PAIN IN THE BUTTOCKS. I DONT THINK NEW PLAYERS WILL FIGURE THAT OUT EASILY EITHER.
December 14th, 2009 at 1:30 am
Actually I like the clicking and dragging on the floor to move around, but then again I am use to doing that with 99% of the apps on facebook.
As far as new players not knowing what to do, anyone that comes from facebook knows no other way besides the click and drag to move around.
I love the fact that we can do cc floor tile, as I am too lazy to do some myself I can’t wait to see what everyone does!!
December 14th, 2009 at 1:51 am
I somehow managed to make a semi-transparent floor tile
The image was transparent in some areas.
December 14th, 2009 at 1:54 am
Ooo…Can’t wait to see them Raisin!!
December 14th, 2009 at 4:00 am
Lots of changes this week
My most favorite addition is the Super Sewing Machine, I will be looking to try to get one soon
The female bodies have improved tremendously, but I am thinking our waist needs to be lowered a bit. It’s just looking like our proportions aren’t right, like the bottom is longer than the top.
The navigation controls should be brought back with an option to hide them if desired. I agree with Fugly moving without them is a pain, and I end up moving things around without wanting to.
I haven’t decided how i feel about the pointer circle and the lighting up yet, again seem like cool features, but they are slightly annoying, well more than slightly for me. But at the same time, i would like the option for them.
Also, I was surprised that there was not one Hanukkah item among all those Christmas items. I am not Jewish (and in fact a strong Christian
but I just think it was a huge oversight not to acknowledge such a widespread holiday.
I look forward to seeing what people do with the CC Floor tiles. I imagine it will become like roof art
albeit expensive roof art i’m sure lol
Oh and yes, I do think that there needs to be some communication between the devs and players. A simple facebook or twitter post saying that there were complications with the update, or even telling one person so they can spread the word around, would make everyone happier. There are so many of us that look forward to Thursdays with a huge smile and waiting without warning kills our spirit a little bit
December 14th, 2009 at 5:22 am
I agree with Cutsie - just toss in some plain old blog post to notify us that something’s delayed!
It’s kinda my fault for not spreading the word, since I found out early yesterday from Monkey that it was delayed… But at the same time, well… It’d just be overall a LOT better if we depended solely on you Devs for these things, since otherwise there’ll be gaps in communication here and there (… because our community has a lovely way of not getting along with each other! lol). So yeah. Just send us a blog post!
Hell, even a mass-e-mail will do!
Although in my opinion a tweet would be way too subtle. I obsessively check Tirnua’s Twitter (mainly for spoilers… lol), but we’re talking the site’s BLOG versus a Twitter Account here! I think it’s more expected to find this kind of stuff on the actual site.
Anyway, where was I?
I get distracted too much…
Ooh! So one quick question about the nifty new sewing machine - does the addition of disks mean we no longer have to pay ~200 TAU for extra “copies” of outfits? :O
Because that would be damn amazing for these lovely designers…
It’d mean more money in their pockets, and more clothes on my hangers!
Oh, and I agree on the note about Hanukkah. I thought some stuff would’ve been added this week since, well… Hanukkah began this week! But I guess not?
I myself love menorahs and dreidels… and ooh, LATKES!! With ketchup.
Lmao!
Realistically, if you went out of your way to provide Lucia stuff, you should provide Hanukkah stuff.
Ooh, and Jewish Apple Cake is delicious! :O
There’s a lot of awesome Jewish food… I wish I had a friend who was Jewish, because I’d be over their house eating all of their food right now.
Yep, I’m on crack. Someone notify the press!
December 14th, 2009 at 5:24 am
Ooh, just wanted to say:
Love the clicking and dragging! Love the object-highlighting too, although it may be a bit annoying after a while… but we’ll see!
I agree with Groovy that clicking/dragging will ultimately be more intuitive for most new users, especially those from Facebook! I personally think it’s a lot more innovative/intuitive than the clicky-pan arrows… They were kinda old-fashioned and… dumb. I’m more of a fan of dragging than clicking! lol
December 14th, 2009 at 6:09 am
P.P.S.: LOVE the front page, Dominic!
It’s really amazing - my favorite so far!!
I hope we get clothes/meshes like those at some time…
I know I’d love a bulky jacket/jacket mesh, and some looser-fitting pants that perhaps went down farther…
And that coat for the girls would be GREAT. :O
December 14th, 2009 at 6:19 am
Woot woot, Professional Sewing Machine - it took some doing!
By the way have you all noticed that they (seem to have) fixed the old “Money disappears when you get a gift” bug?
December 14th, 2009 at 6:22 am
:O?
I never noticed that bug.
Btw, you’re welcome for helping you discover it!
Haha, uh… what was I going to say?
Ah, yes.
The circle pointer thing that follows your mouse is really bothersome.
Could we maybe get a cursor alteration instead?
Maybe like a regular cursor with an ‘X’ beside it when we can’t ‘walk here’, etc.? I dunno, just make something besides a TINY circle, lol.
December 14th, 2009 at 8:54 am
Thanks Atlas! lol
I don’t have a problem with the circle pointer itself - but there is actually one problem with it that should be fixed somehow.
The circle turns red when you mouse over something you can’t walk over - and shows the item text (such as “Poinsettia” if you’re mousing over a poinsettia).
The circle turns green when you mouse over something you CAN walk over - and does NOT show the item text.
This is a bit of a problem when it comes to the Goto arrows. Since you can walk over them, it’s very hard to see what the text on them says…
Would like the text to be shown again like it used to, when you mouse over a Goto arrow.
December 14th, 2009 at 9:41 am
I like the click and drag feature.
But its causing me problems with pricing GOTO’s.
My only question, can someone scan anyones custom clothing into the scanner or only their own?
December 14th, 2009 at 9:49 am
Great update! I thought I was gonna die when I saw all the action icons on the world map bouncing around like crazy xD ROFL LMAO LOL
That’s just crazy, like me
The CC floor is a great idea to, Im looking forward to create some nice floors, but I think the price is a little over the top. Sure, it’s the same price as the CC clothes, but 700 TAU and then like 330 TAU for 30 floor tiles is very expensive. And I don’t think a lot of people will buy it either. Maybe you could add more floor tiles, like 60 or 100 (höhö, maybe not :p) or lower the prices a bit. That’s the only thing I come to think of, besides that this is like I said before a great update xD
December 14th, 2009 at 9:53 am
And by the way, did you do something to our faces ? :O
My face has changed! And I don’t appreciate secret plastic surgery >:O But feel free to add more faces for the guys, I would appreciate that. And I’ve said that before
Knisch me :O
December 14th, 2009 at 10:29 am
nevermind, i got my answer
December 14th, 2009 at 11:23 am
Manssom, they said they’re gonna add a way to make cc flooring by using recycled materials.

So my guess is that by doing that, the whole process will become cheaper! =D
Yeah, so… Since I’m all stoked for cc flooring, I’m gonna hold off until it cheapens out. I’m lame like that, I know.
December 14th, 2009 at 12:45 pm
Can you make us a dvd rack, and maybe label the dvds with what is on them…or something because its impossible to stay organized.
Or maybe a dvd rack that connects to the dvd player, then you could pick from whatever you have in the rack…please.
December 14th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
LOL. Qute!
I think a DVD rack would be really awesome. O:
If it’s usable by roomies AND owners, that would also be neat - of course, it’d have to be up to the DVD’s owner as far as ’sharing’ DVDs with housemates goes…
December 14th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
DVD rack would be good, at least a label on the dvd’s so you know what’s on them. Maybe the problem is that they seem to be reusable. When you’ve printed all items on the disc it seems like you can refill it (dvd-r-w
) at least for me, empty discs magically appear now and then…
I don’t want roomies to be able to use up my dvd’s and reap the harvest. TY
If they would work on a dvd rack, that could also translate into a wardrobe/armoire/clothing rack for cc clothes, which would be great. I don’t know how hard it would be to get the clothing or dvd’s to show up in item calculations and item show in the shopping tab though. Ofc I would prefer if they still would show up even though they are inside the rack.
Trying on clothes from the rack would be a nice gameplay aspect though, so I do think it would make the game a lot more enjoyable.
The floor tiles are way too expensive yes, 30 tiles is too few for 700 tau. Also since the tiles are “destroyed” once you put them somewhere.
I would like a “regret” button for uploading things that didn’t turn out well, and a way to pick up and restack tiles you didn’t use. Or the same as it was in tso, that you would have “unlimited” numbers of floor tiles but you would pay for each tile you use, instead of paying for the stack.
Sounds good that they are thinking of letting us use recycled materials for making floors - hope it’s the old boxes that recycled materials come in.
December 14th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
Yay a Lucia wreath!!! Thank you!!

All this Christmas stuff rocks! I love it!! Great job! Thanks so much for this update, it’s awesome
December 14th, 2009 at 11:01 pm
“Sounds good that they are thinking of letting us use recycled materials for making floors - hope it’s the old boxes that recycled materials come in.”
I am thinking dorm-room furniture, at least.
December 14th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
Yeah
On the topic of making our own furniture/wall panels etc out of recycled materials:
I was just watching the National Geographic channel, and there was a presentation of a project where they solved the housing problems of poor people; whole families went out searching for plastic in garbage dumps etc. It was then combined with fibers from the Luffa plant in a simple factory, and made into panels. The panels were then used for building houses (very much like our wall panels in Tirnua) and making furniture.
I found this web page that describes the project, apparently the idea has received the Rolex Award;
http://rolexawards.com/en/the-laureates/elsazaldivar-the-project.jsp
So a suggestion would be that we get another plant we can grow - the Luffa plant.
We could harvest the Luffa, dry it and use it as a component in making walls and furniture.
December 16th, 2009 at 5:16 am
I can think of a couple things I’d like to make custom floor tiles for, but none of them worth the cost mentioned in other peoples posts.
I do hope the price comes down greatly, but if not, I just won’t utilize it. lol No biggie.
December 17th, 2009 at 3:44 am
Love all the new changes with UI. I would still prefer to have my chat, inventory, etc anchored on the side as a default instead of bottom of screen. However it’s much easier to move just 4 panels when I loggin now. Thanks. I also noticed the new highlighting on objects selected. This is great when working on jobs. I don’t miss the directional arrows for navigation at all. I love being able to just click and drag. I don’t even have to use the ctrl key anymore! Yay!!!! I’m glad to see the addition of long sleeves for females in time for winter. The avatars are looking better all the time. Well, at least while standing. My right shoulder is still painful when sitting and my legs turn to rubber
I hope in the coming new year, my sitting posture might improve a bit. Nice tweaks on the motives. Great work this year! Happy Holidays and best wishes in the New Year!
December 19th, 2009 at 4:58 am
About the pro sewing machine.
Since it costs more to make clothes with the pro - you get the additional cost of one destroyed item+ a dvd - I think the energy cost should be slightly lowered compared to the normal sewing machine. It’s now 1409 energy per item same as the normal one. If that’s difficult maybe we could get a free “token” item to scan instead. Such as a copy that can’t be worn but only scanned.
December 19th, 2009 at 5:02 am
And while you’re at it, maybe you could let us stack cc

The clearness of you post is quite impressive. Thanks for your insight….
