Put a little Green in your Diet
November 18th, 2009 by TirNua Audrey Leave a comment Share on FacebookMaking and Eating Salads increases your MEP values. Become smarter, stronger and happier for doing so. Every flower that you recycle reaps you food components that contain vitamins. Different flowers have different nutritional values (a.k.a. vitamins) but all flowers produce some of each.
Each of the vitamins will affect your energies as follows:
You can find the Nutritional values listed in the recycle dialog pop-up box when selecting the “send to be recycled” interaction.

Or select, the “Check Vitals” interaction to display the Nutrition dialog box.

Learn more about how vitamins are derived from flowers in this prior blog posting on Edible Flowers.
Get Started Making Salads
- Check your mental value - it will need to be at least 8.0 to make a salad but a much higher value will yield you salads with higher vitamin content. To increase your mental value you will need to do activities like water your garden, play videopoker, complete puzzles etc.
- Acquire a food processor and a salad bar. Purchase these items in the food collection store from the shopping panel. Or if you a resident, check the VIP Store, they are currently on sale.
- Recycle some flowers and place the food recycling bins on your lot next to the salad processing station.
- Select the ‘Make Salad’ interaction on the salad processing station.
Note: mousing over the salad bar, the salad processing station and the food recycle bins will show you how many servings are available and what the Vitamin Mental, Vitamin Emotional and Vitamin Physical values are on each are.

How do we increase out mental capacity?

oh ugh..our*

There really needs to be a more concrete way to increase our mental capacity other than salad-making… :\
At the moment, there’s no plausible way to do so if your Mc is below, say, 7.20… lol.
I hope that this week’s update includes what I think it’ll include…
If so, then I’m totally gonna continue to save up my Generic Food for the winter, and hopefully open a [successful] restaurant sometime in the near future. Not sure how “in-demand” a food-only establishment will be, seeing as how people seem to prefer to have the treadmill AND salad bar in one place, that way the energy given from the salad isn’t lost by sitting by.
Which is another thing I want to propose!!
Please consider this:
How about, the higher the Mc of the ‘chef,’ the longer-lasting the effects of the salad/other food? Say the cook has an Mc of 50. Since it’s so high, the effects of the salad will last, say, for a solid +50mins straight. Each whole Mc point will make the salad last +1 minute longer. Since it requires you to have 8 Mc minimum to make salads, that’s a salad that’ll keep you full for 8 mins! Not too bad, eh?
I say +50mins is the absolute max because, hey, we need to have that ‘Home Cooking’ concept still in play here! We can’t have anything longer than that, otherwise it’ll be abused and… well, there SHOULD be a market for longer-lasting salad!
So, to sum it up:
Theoretically, reaching 50 max Mental Capacity (Mc) will garner the salad the ability to sustain the X amount of energy it replenishes for 50 whole minutes straight. That’s ONE salad! After the 50 minutes, it’ll still JUST start to decay (no sense in having it suddenly deplete and have a ‘crash and burn’ effect on your poor Persona…). That’s still a ton more time in addition, too, especially for those treadmilling or salad-tossing, etc.!
Assuming a chef with 50 Mc will have the ability to make a ‘perfect’ salad (in other words, +50 to each energy, or… instant filling, realistically), this will be a healthy thing for the in-game economy…
It’ll make specialization in certain ‘kinds’ of salads possible… Perhaps someone would prefer to “weed” out the flowers utilized (no pun intended), and make one salad bar solely up of green flowers, aka Vitamin… err (Green = Mental…right? Or maybe it’s Emotional). Then another completely out of Vitamin P, etc. …
This’ll make the demand for flowers higher, especially those that are the greenest/bluest/reddest? possible… Or is it YGB, and not RGB? ‘Scuse me for my lack of memory.
Anyway, I like my idea.
I’m lame like that though, so I’d love to hear what you all think!

Trash is stacking up on me, even going to work when I can, its too much…any way to get rid of more than one at a time?

Atlas is on to something. To get get interesting game-play, you have to skew things really drastically, so that one person cannot possibly do all things. It is a challenge when confronted by power gamers, but it can be done.

Couldn’t agree more, Lac… If I may call you Lac.

First, we are process of tuning capacity and value so expect some changes this week.
At this moment here are the ways to increase mental capacity:
- Finish a puzzle by crossing the finish line
- make a salad
- liar’s dice bet/call (slight effect)
- eating fruit (slight effect)
- boiler/woodchipper (very slight effect)
As I said above these are being tuned (some are changing) and new ones being added.
Thanks

Hmm.
- Boiler and woodchipper have a microscopic effect (the bar lights up but you would have to do it extremely many times to raise Mental by it).
- Liars Dice betting has no or almost no effect.
- Fruit eating, you need to eat boxes and boxes of the stuff, and that wouldn’t be very nice unless you have your own. Some peeps like to use the fruit for working out :p
The blog says:
“To increase your mental value you will need to do activities like water your garden, play videopoker, complete puzzles etc.”
Aha this is for mental VALUE, not capacity. I was gonna protest on the watering your garden thing but it does raise the value (not cap).
I don’t think completing a puzzle gives + on value, but it gives + on cap. It depletes your values for both Mental and Emo.
I have no idea about the values given from Video poker but it doesn’t give a noticable effect on cap.
One thing forgotten here is growing trees, that increases the cap by 0.01 or 0.04 per harvest, probably more if you harvest a rare tree, and with harvesting here I mean that it is in a pot and you harvest it into a full grown tree. So a whole batch of trees from beginning to end will give you about… Hmm… 2 * 0.01 + 0.04 = 0.06 * 16 = 0.96 per batch. Not a huge number though and it takes several weeks to do it.

But like Greg pointed out they are being changed, that applies for today - tomorrow they are probably different.
- About Atlas’ idea that salad should last longer if the chef has 50 Mental. Does that mean it would last 50 minutes even when you’re on the tread?
Probably not, since that would make it weird and overpowered.
But salad could actually be made to “stick” as long as you’re idle. If the reason is to promote people going to restaurants. But the minute you get on a treadmill it should decay as normal.

Btw it would do a lot for the game’s “feeling” if a person eating salad, would look for a chair to sit on before eating.
It might also complicate things of course… Like people would need to have chairs near the salad bar.

After thinking about it, I agree with you Raisin!
Salad would be a lot more effective in a Restaurant setting if a +50minute effect was implemented AT REST. Now, getting on a treadmill, as you pointed out, should remain the same. Otherwise, it’d promote tons more AFKness, and it would just generally not bode well for the community at large.
HOWEVER, if it kept you in a Full State for a solid 50 minutes, that’d be great for parties and the like! No need to roll your eyes at the emptying Energy Bars looming over your Persona’s head… lol.
Overall, though, we need to have a ‘Full State’. I’d love to just sit and chat again, without being annoyed at my Energy Value decay!
Of course, Energy Capacity decay should remain constant, unless skill locks are applied to the entire Energy in question.

When are we going to be able to use the beds? Realistically, that should account for some kind of energy.
Thanks

How do we get people to eat from our salad bars?
November 20th, 2009 at 6:14 am
Force them.
hehe. jk.
I’ve just been eating my own, so I can keep filling it, so I can keep using the processor, so I can keep earning skill. lol

As long as nothing happens when your energy bar drops to zero - and ppl don’t have to eat in order not to faint. The salad bar doesn’t do much good really. Yeah if you get a salad that gives you 5 or higher in energy you can use it for walking the tread. That’s about it I guess.
So we need something to happen if your Tirnuan doesn’t eat!!
