Turn Down that Darn Radio
June 26th, 2010 by TirNua Audrey Leave a comment Share on FacebookSound System and Volume Controls
Now you have the ability to control the sound level on your radio instead of just turning it on or off. This is all part of our introduction of a sound system in TirNua. To set your preferences, go to the ‘My Stuff’ tab and select the ‘Preferences’ sub-tab.
The first sounds that you will begin to hear are SEAGULLS. Yes, we have birds flying around in TirNua!!!
You will see these birds roaming the skies in some locations more often then in other locations, like the closer you are to the beach.
Handy Dandy Mute Button - to mute radio and sounds. Toggle on and off as desired.
RedRed Alert: Player Stores and Store searches is currently broken.
We are working round the clock on the issue and hope to have it fixed shortly.
Other
Fixes/Changes
- Treadmill bugs are fixed
- Custom Content Clothing can no longer be put on from your lot, just from inventory. No more missing body parts when putting it on directly from your lot
- Other players will see you change your outfit without you needing to exit and re-enter the lot to see it
- Fixed crash when purchasing clothing before entering a lot
- The owner of a plant will get the badge if someone else grows it to fully grown for them
- Fixed invisible persona when you change personas
- Resident Badge appearing in inventory when you don’t own one has been fixed
- Missing display of water times on tool tips when watering is late
- Made watering times on flower tool tips red when watering is late
- Changed Good and Bad Carbon Footprint High Score names to ‘Best’ and ‘Worst’ Carbon Footprint
- Bad and Good Carbon Footprint are now just called Carbon Footprint in - all badges, good and bad are displayed under Carbon Footprint
So be quiet or noisy this weekend!

Totally awesome update!!! Thank you for all the new features. Back to bird watching*

Lol while I was showering fir work tonight I was wondering what the long update was. I thought to myself “probably something massive like a graphics upgrade or sounds. I’ll bet it’s gonna be sound since I have to rush off to work and i’ll have to keep it muted all night. Tease me for a double shift and I can’t listen to it till tomorrow morning. Yup, that’d be my kind of luck alright.”
lmao oh well. Cool! I’ll be logging in a bit later. I’m wondering just how “broken” are player stores? Just the search or you can’t buy without going there in person? But things work for sales and the cash flow is as it should be?

Just a warning:
The “Starter kits” aren’t part of the update.
Don’t buy them.
It’s just another example of Tirnua putting “everything” in the store tab, but those are the crates new players get as of last week.
They only contain some newbie stuff like (for the hard one) yellow battery/hand crank/noobie harness/well/orange seeds.
I tested it out on a testing acct earlier so I knew that, but I think people are now buying those crates, thinking it’s something new we got in this update, and wasting a LOT of tau in the process.

Ted got his Global Mute. Cool.
I assume it turns the streaming off totally? If it only turns the sound off (and the radios etc keep streaming in the background) it’s gonna be less useful, due to the lag from the streaming radios still being there - or at least so I assume. That lag is very noticable at least in the gym. But yeah I’ve already gone on about that.
Also what happens if you drag the radio slider all the way down on the persona preferences page, does it turn it totally off?
I don’t think it’s clear that the sliders are all for volume control. A slider next to “Lot objects” gives me the feeling that I can choose the quality of the graphics or something. Maybe I’m stupid though.
Here’s a suggestion:
Why not let our latest stupid Status message show in Visitors tab and when mousing over a persona?
If they hover over Larry’s persona for instance, they could see his latest … ehh… words of wisdom there. ;p
There’s a lot of us who liked reading other people’s bio on a lot… It would be more useful (and probably be used more) if we could read the status messages while in the room, without having to search for the person in Persona web/leave the room view.
Was quite funny to be typing them directly in the Feeds box. First good use I’ve had of the feeds box. Feed people stupid messages about myself. It’s a micro blog :p
I haven’t seen any birds yet but I’ve only been in the gym (deep water lot). How about some fish swimming around there? :p
When we get the noob badges filled, and the achievements we have already achieved filled as they should, maybe that could be celebrated with a pig or two flying by. (Or when I stop nagging about it. Which ever comes first.)

I may have lost my “funny” but someone else picked it up.
Ha!

I take the mute button as a personal win. Now I can put away my global mute YES! posters and shirts.

Sound Controls!!!!! Most awesome update! The birds are great. I was lucky enough to first see them on a beach lot so it all made sense. However, I think I might have been confused seeing Seagulls on a mountain or snow lot. haha. Looking forward to more background sounds and object sounds.

Lovely update indeed! I really like the status feed messages, that is a great idea. What I would *love* to see a global “shoutcast* that would be seen by all (or maybe a way an option to ignore). This would be a nice way to tie in our status messages, get folks to join ya for a liars dice game, or y’all can charge a nominal fee to broadcast events, sales, etc. Raisin’s idea is fantastic, as usual! I know when I am at a popular lot I like to check out peoples persona pages, but they lag a bit to load, so this would be even better.
Thanks again team!
Oh one more thing, it’s been a while since we received fridges in one of the older updates. It was mentioned in that blog that our fruit would be useful, even the strawberries. We haven’t heard anything about that in months, I am just wondering what is going on with that. The one thing I would go ape over is if we could use our current fruits, coffee, and other foods to make into other foods to serve to our guests. I am still holding out some hope for that day!

The “black cloud” is now well into the Artic Animal Refuge and, as I pointed out last update, does not affect the factory zone or the oil plains where the cloud is produced. Very ironic. I’m wondering how the boiler users, oil explorers and oil drillers in those zones feel about having their airspace clean while the Tirnuans to the north and west of them have to put up with ash laden air?
June 27th, 2010 at 6:19 pm
It’s snowing ashes on our oil lots too. There is pollution there too - you can see the values on the cell in red - but the cloud that moves with the wind is the only thing we see on the map. So we do pollute ourselves too. Maybe that could be shown more visually.
This is another stupid little thing but I’m very happy about it:
We got red text on potted plants too now - if they are past watering time. Awesome. Thanks!

“What I would *love* to see a global “shoutcast”"…
Hehe… Omg… I would have to start making less weird and personal status feeds.
But it would be great if we could choose which status we want broadcasted for a one time tau fee, maybe 1000 tau. So not all statuses would be broadcasted. They could make it so a broadcasted status wouldn’t work unless you enabled Facebook spam too, or give us a discount if we spammed Facebook or Twitter. That way it would advertise both ingame and out of game. If we could reply to people’s statuses and broadcast statuses too… Endless fun… hehe. We would be happy to pay the broadcast fee if it meant our friends might click on our status on Facebook and enter the game. Good, appealing broadcasts could actually pay off then.
June 27th, 2010 at 11:23 pm
Well, I guess if you pollute you deserve ash falling on your lot. But those that don’t produce - do they deserve ash messing up their environment? Still waiting for the answer to my question.

The bird looks good flying around.
June 28th, 2010 at 1:35 am
Thanks for the feedback guys - glad you enjoy the bird!
June 28th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
Yeah the birds are awesome, especially on the wooden deck lots.
I wanna be able to save them from oil spills.

I have managed to get myself locked out of the forums. This is a test to see if I can post here. And what name it shows.
